Here I am with my younger sister, Stefanie, practicing
the baton at about age 6. Very serious.
What I love about working for Laura’s Wholesome
Junk Food is our mission. We provide great tasting
treats with excellent customer service and seek to inspire
those we work with. We believe in the common sense
approach to matters. For example, we want to make
cool T-shirts or hats with our name and logo on it.
Instead of going to a marketing department – I
get to send out an email that says, “Who wants
to spearhead this?” The person who does
legal research can take charge and run with it and make
a great T-shirt.
I loved many of my jobs in the past. One was assisting
a hot air balloon company – I painted the banners
on the side or held the rope when it was inflated.
I also sold wedding gowns as my very first job at $3.25
per hour. Getting my first paycheck at age 15
was the most amazing feeling! I am proud to create
a work environment that inspires people of all ages
to be their best and love working with people who love
what they do. Plus, I feel that I truly am offering
great choices to families and individuals who are looking
to eat more wholesome treats!
Our "Dr. Laura" (yes,
she IS an M.D.) is our founder, chief cookie-cutter,
and illustrious leader.

I was born and raised in small-town, Quincy, CA, but
have lived in the Los Angeles area for over 20 years.
I’ve worked on many films, TV shows & commercials.
Next to Laura and Howard, I have worked for Laura’s
Wholesome Junk Food since they started—at that
time hand-delivering orders to the first two stores
we were in.
Now, I travel doing demos in stores around the country
combined with my comedy gigs. You can check out
more about me at www.myspace.com/comiccole
where you can view clips or my blog, which has a 300+hits
a day.
Cole is a key part of our growth
and marketing strategies. When not performing
comedy in clubs, he’s introducing folks to our
Bite-lettes iin stores nationwide and entertaining them
at the same time.

My name is Char. Originally from the Midwest,
I relocated to Las Vegas in 2001. I started doing
demonstrating work and was extremely lucky to be asked
to demo at the very "first" grand opening
of the Whole Foods Market which I was praying for.
Upon recommendations from Marketing to several vendors,
Dr. Laura asked me if I would please do demos for her,
and I started demoing our "Junk Food Cookies'"
in 2004. They were a big hit and a lot of fun to do.
I get a lot of laughs from our "unique name"--
customers just love it! I have also been asked
if I am the Dr. Laura that tells everyone what to do
on the radio station and have been threaten to be "slugged"!
HA! As the company grew, Dr. Laura asked me if
I would like to work for her from home so I started
in 2005 in customer service in addition to doing demos.
Coming from nasty Chicago winters, putting on your slippers
and going to work at home are jobs people are only wishing
they could get! I gave away my snow shovels, rakes,
and boots. Instead of slippers, I go to work in
flip-flops or sandals most of the year. It can't
get any better!
Working in the Natural/Health Food Markets and for our
cookie company, I have learned a lot about healthier
food choices, peoples’ special diets/restrictions,
and I am thrilled to be able to offer them a tasty,
high-quality little "Junk Food" snack!
Char's great people- and follow-up
skills have greatly contributed to our growth and ability
to stay connected with folks in the stores.

A Midwesterner, I was born & raised in MO and now reside
in KS. When I’m not dodging tornadoes or dealing
with ice storms, I like to spend time with my husband
and kids. I love animals, and have 2 cats & a dog. A
Catholic convert, I’m very involved in the lay
movement of Communion & Liberation. My friends describe
me as creative and intelligent. I guess that’s
why I’m a PBS kind of gal- I’m interested
in museums, art, writing, theatre, science, etc. Did
I mention I sing? First soprano- although the days of
hitting high C are long gone.
I love creative, unique stuff that shows a passion for
life. I was intrigued by LWJF when a former co-worker
received some bite-lettes™ and shared them with
me. They tasted good, were natural, and different than
other healthy cookies I had tried. Working for LWJF
has been great, too. Whether it’s marketing, sales
or operations, being able to put my creativity and knowledge
to use is a refreshing change from the short-sighted
corporations I’d worked for in the past. Everyone
is great to work with, and we all bring unique talents
to the table to help make Laura’s Wholesome Junk
Food special.

Monique Freitas has been with Laura's since the summer
of 2007. She wears lots of hats from book keeping, sales
and visiting stores. On top of that, she can take apart
a computer and loves tinkering with software. She fixes
Laura's phone and other things when they break. On occasion,
she supervises quality control at the bakery and is
always ready to taste new flavors. In her free time,
she gets great scores on Rock Band and is working on
starting her own tea company. |
